Dog-eared: Score by Kennedy Ryan

I listen to most of my books on Audible. But some books deserve to be held.

That's where Dog-eared comes from. I dog-ear the pages I have to come back to, and this series is where I talk about the books that actually stay with me. Not just the ones I finished, but the ones that changed something.

First up is Score by Kennedy Ryan. I'm working my way through every Kennedy Ryan book, and this is the one I'm starting with.

On the surface, Score is a second chance romance. But what it's really about is a woman who spent years not showing up fully as herself. She hid parts of who she was and waited to be too much for someone.

Then there's a line where she says she doesn't want to apologize for who she is. She wants to show up completely. Authentically. As herself.

I read that and I had to put the book down.

Because that's the work, isn't it? Not just falling in love with someone else. Falling in love with yourself enough to stop apologizing for taking up space.

I'm not going to tell you the line. If you've read Score, you probably know which one I mean. If you haven't, read it and come back. I want to hear which part stopped you.

Tell me in the comments: what's the last book that made you put it down and just sit there?

Until next time,
